Services & Facilities
The Victoria Flying Club has a full range of facilities to ensure that your flight training or recreational flying experience is enjoyable, efficient, and safe for our members. Set in a WW2 era hangar beside the YYJ Control Tower, it is a busy location full of character and buzzing with the excitement of aviators past and present. Over the years we have created a fully professional flight training operation, which still retains a friendly clubhouse atmosphere.
When you arrive at VFC a fully staffed office is available to provide you with information, materials, and dispatching. It is the hub of club operations.
Right beside the office you’ll find the Pilot Shop, stocking charts, books, study materials, and a range of pilot supplies.
If you head up through the pilot shop and up the stairs the library awaits, a quiet study spot with an incredible view of the ramp and air field. Members are welcome to borrow material from the library on an honour system.
Up a separate staircase off the lobby is our classroom area, with a large and small classroom. Groundschool is typically held in the large classroom, with the small classroom available for meetings, briefings, and study sessions. Our on-site aviation medical examiner also has an office in this area.
Briefing rooms are available downstairs, just past the office, where students can meet with instructors for pre or post flight briefing and discussion. There is also an exam room where qualified members of our staff invigilate Transport Canada written exams.
At the end of the long briefing room hallway is the entrance to the Pilot’s Lounge. This is a great place to study, socialize, watch planes, or even host a gathering. Comfortable seating, a pool table, and full kitchen are at your disposal. Outside there is a picnic table with the best possible view of airport operations! Members can reserve the room for private functions by speaking with our office staff.
If you didn’t pack your own, you can enjoy lunch from the Dakota Café, located just off the main lobby, and open seven days a week for club members and also the general public. The Dakota Café is a busy spot – especially when they serve their famous WonTon soup!
Last but certainly not least is our maintenance hangar. The Victoria Flying Club is fortunate to have a hard working and highly skilled in-house maintenance facility and staff to ensure that our fleet is in peak performance condition at all times. These guys are a friendly bunch, happy to answer questions and share information.
If you have your own aircraft, please enquire at the office about paved, grass, or hangar parking space.
The Victoria Flying Club belongs to its members. We hope you feel at home here!
