Victoria Flying Club Welcomes All for a Community Day and Open House

The Victoria Flying Club invites aviation enthusiasts young and old to its ramp at the Victoria International Airport on Saturday, May 26th for its annual Community Day and Open House. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour this modern day historic 80 year old facility and learn about the rich history and planes that have made their home there. Several Flight Instructors will be ready and available to share the joy of flight with visitors in the Redbird FMX flight simulator or on a Discovery Flight. Vintage and modern planes will be open for viewing on the ramp, some even for sale. Career-minded individuals can bring their questions and talk with Flight Instructors about study plans.

VFC's Open House will run from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. An information session about VFC's student programs, including the recently updated CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence) program, will be held at 1:30 PM in the onsite classroom. Visitors will not only get to check out what the Club has to offer, but will also have the chance to meet members from various local organizations, including CASARA (Civil Air Search and Rescue), NavCanada, COPA (Canadian Owners & Pilots Association), the UVic Diploma in Business Administration Aviation Option program, and the Vancouver Island Chapter of Women in Aviation.

About the Victoria Flying Club

The Victoria Flying Club has been training world-class professional and recreational pilots since 1946, with roots going back even farther to the 1920s with its progenitor, the Victoria Aero Club. Local and international students benefit from top-notch instruction on a standardized fleet of Cessna 172S aircraft at one of Canada’s busiest airports, providing an unsurpassed level of training. VFC professional pilot alumni are currently employed with a variety of national and international carriers including WestJet, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, Central Mountain Air, Pacific Coastal Airlines, as well as the Canadian military. The Victoria Flying Club is immensely proud of its graduates and works hard to ensure its pilots are in a position to secure employment, backed by the reputation of a solid training facility. In addition to professional training, the Victoria Flying Club has maintained its original focus as a social club. Flying members have access to a fleet of rental aircraft, a flexible instruction schedule, use of club facilities, and opportunity to take part in further training opportunities and social events.
